Help us keep Leeuwin adventurers dry!

We need your help to replace our ageing wet weather gear

On every Leeuwin voyage, trainees and volunteer crew wear wet weather jackets and pants to protect themselves from the harsh elements whilst out at sea. Even in the middle of summer, night watch temperatures present a challenge to the hardiest of young trainees. The wind whips across the deck and waves crash across the bow…

Our wet weather gear has become tired and isn’t performing as well as it used to – and no one likes being cold and wet!

So we are reaching out to the community for donations to replace our ageing wet weather gear, so all voyage trainees are kept warm and dry.

Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Chief Executive Officer, Carol Shannon, said replacing the wet weather gear is incredibly important.

“It’s impossible to keep our trainees focussed if they aren’t warm and dry. We’re hoping the community will help us with this fundraising venture – just $200 will purchase a waterproof jacket and trousers for a young trainee, and will be used hundreds of times over!”

Contributions through donations and sponsorship have, for over 32 years, enabled young people from across Western Australia to experience the unique, life challenging adventure that is a voyage on STS Leeuwin II.”
