We Welcome Jo Lynch as the New CEO of the Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Foundation

On behalf of the Board of the Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Foundation, I am delighted to announce the appointment of Jo Lynch as Chief Executive, commencing 22 June 2026.
Jo brings more than twenty years of executive leadership experience across youth development, tourism, outdoor recreation, and purpose-driven organisations. Throughout her career, she has built a reputation for leading organisations through periods of growth and change while maintaining a strong focus on people, purpose, and long-term sustainability.
Most recently, Jo served as Chief Executive of the R. Tucker Thompson Sail Training Trust in New Zealand, a tall ship youth development organisation that delivers transformative sail training experiences for young people. During her tenure, strategic direction was refreshed, a successful maritime education pathway was established to connect young people with training and employment opportunities, and the organisation strengthened its culture, operations, and stakeholder relationships. Her leadership contributed to the Trust receiving New Zealand’s Social Impact Not-for-Profit Business Award.
Jo is known for her calm, authentic, and collaborative leadership style. She has extensive experience working alongside Boards, staff, funders, government agencies, community organisations, and industry partners to align strategy with operational delivery and create meaningful outcomes for the communities they serve.
Her connection to youth development through sail training extends beyond her executive career. For five years, Jo volunteered as crew
aboard the Spirit of New Zealand, New Zealand’s iconic youth development tall ship, supporting voyages that help young people build confidence, resilience, leadership, and teamwork through adventure at sea.
The Board is confident that Jo’s leadership, experience, and commitment to purpose will help guide the Foundation into its next chapter. She will play a key role in strengthening partnerships,
supporting the Foundation’s dedicated staff and volunteers, expanding opportunities for young people, and ensuring the long-term sustainability and impact of the organisation.
Please join us in welcoming Jo to the Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Foundation. We look forward to the leadership, experience, and vision she brings to this important role.
