First Youth Voyages of the Season!
Two back-to-back voyages set sail from Fremantle these past school holidays, inviting more than 50 young trainees to find their adventure on the Leeuwin. The first voyage looked to the South West region, visiting Bunker Bay and Geographe Bay, while the second sailed around the waters of Wadjemup/ Rottenest Is.
But these voyages are never about how many nautical miles are accumulated over the seven days.
They’re about stepping onto the Leeuwin’s deck (and the unknown) on that first day, learning the practical skills of the ship’s safety – climbing the mast, and hauling the lines, steering the vessel – before setting out to sea alongside other young people to face the same challenges and support each other, to grow together, and form special, long-lasting friendships.
Thank you to all the trainees who took on this adventure with us, our community of volunteers, and the crew.
