Leeuwin’s Volunteer Awards and 40th Birthday Celebrations

Celebrating 40 years is special for any organisation. On Saturday 12 September, our team was lucky enough to do so alongside many of the people who have made, and continue to make, the Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Foundation unique.

The celebrations began with the annual Spirit of the Leeuwin Awards on the deck of the ship. A front had passed the previous night making way for an afternoon of bright sunshine and a light northwesterly breeze. It made for perfect conditions to get together and recognise the work, dedication, and passion of our volunteer community.

By late afternoon, the party had moved next door to Gage Roads where previous Captains, crew, volunteers, supporters, and friends shared countless stories and knowledge spanning four decades. As we look forward to our new sailing season, the day was a reminder of the impact and strong connections created by everyone who has been part of the Leeuwin journey so far. We want to thank everyone who was able to join us to mark this occasion and a huge congratulations to all the Award winners!
