Tasmania 2027
We are excited to share that the STS Leeuwin II will be sailing to Hobart to take part in the 2027 Australian Wooden Boat Festival! Join us as we set sail from Fremantle, along the Great Australian Bight to Adelaide, and across the Bass Strait.
Book your place on one or more of the eight voyages that make up this unique southern journey.
Voyages are available for both trainees aged 14-24 as well as adults of all ages.
About the voyages
This is a working ship — and you are part of the crew. During the voyage you will be:
- Setting and furling the sails
- Climbing the masts and working aloft
- Standing watch while sailing through the night
- and much more!
Weather conditions, watch rotations and ship positioning shape each day — there is never a dull moment.
On the last full day of the voyage, it’s over to you. Together, you’ll nominate a relief ship’s crew from within your teams – who has shown leadership, team management skills and capability? It could be you. Test your knowledge and skills and work together to chart the ship’s course to a new anchorage.
About the Festival
The Australian Wooden Boat Festival is the largest celebration of wooden boats and maritime culture in the Southern Hemisphere. Founded in 1994, the biennial festival spans Hobart’s entire waterfront, feeding into the city beyond, welcoming a diverse and stunning collection of 400+ wooden vessels — from historic tall ships and classic yachts to traditional fishing boats.
